Biography


The inspiration for my music comes from sacred and world folk and classical traditions. I am drawn to use music as a way to explore and express the underlying oneness of the world's great religious and sacred traditions.
My musical hero's are mostly western composers such as Bach, Ravel, Janacek and Arvo Part.
Although I am classically trained, I spent many years writing and performing violin in the contemporary folk world, in bands such as Finality Jack, Mapaluna and Kai and directing Zingaresque the county world/folk ensemble in Northampton.
Two events around 1999 dramatically altered by musical path, one was a trip to Africa where I experienced the power of singing as an everyday reality, and the other was discovering the sacred Baha'i

Rivers

a choral piece exploring the oneness of the messages that exist within the world faiths. Weaving sacred Hindu, Buddhist, Zoroastrian, Jewish, Christian, Muslim & Baha'i writings.
