Zingaresque and Junior Zingaresque are the World Music / composition groups of the NMPAT (Northants Music and Performing Arts Trust). The directors for the 2015 – 2016 season are Richard Leigh and Henry Bentley.
Zingaresque was formed in 1994 by Richard Leigh and Tim Perkins and explores highly diverse musical genres rooted in many different World and Traditional cultures. Performances reflect the personal styles and preferences of the group members, often bringing a highly original modern slant to the music.
The instrumental make up of the group is highly diverse and fluid and players often use their skills on a variety of instruments and voice. An important aspect of their work is the collaborative nature of the composition and performance development, with all contributions from members being equally valid.
A compilation CD is being produced to celebrate Zingaresque being 21 with recordings (from 2001-2015)
